It's Good for You Pizza

The Best Pizza Ever is in Madison

Click here for their info:   “It’s Good For You”

Last weekend, while out of town, we decided to stop for a pizza at the place where our son works one night per week. If you know my kid, you know he was manager of an artisanal pizza place for years. He doesn’t miss managing an entire restaurant. Apparently, he DOES miss making spectacular pies and then baking them at temps high enough to burn the hair off his arms.

We texted to our kid that we might stop by and he said that was cool. We put the address for “It’s Good for You” in Google Maps and into Madison we meandered.

I’m here to tell those of you who sometimes get into Madison that this was the best pizza I've ever eaten in my life. Smokey crust, rich with olive oil, herbs that filled one’s taste buds and then one’s heart. The place is small, most folks were picking up their orders. You can look at their website and menu to see where they are and what they offer.

Our son served us two pizzas. Pepperoni – it’s imported from Italy - and red onions. The other was a special just for that day; eggplant, mushrooms, and pecorino cheese. They make unique pizzas almost every evening.

I didn’t eat all my crusts because, well, I’ve sadly become gluten sensitive. I ate some because it was spectacularly smoky crispy good.  There was a little pile of crust edges on my plate by the end of the meal. Len asked if I was going to eat them. I sighed and said no so he pulled them over and ate them, which is all our years he’s never done before. It was that good.

The tiramisu was, I swear, made by angels.

They are only open three evenings per week.  Brigadoon pizza anyone?
