Is it safe to come out now? Are we peeping our heads out of our burrows to look around? The omicron surge is waning. Yes, Covid in all its iterations is still out there, still dangerous for many, and we can catch it. I don’t understand going out not wearing a mask. (I assume I’ll be wearing a mask in public the rest of my life.) But still, it’s beginning to feel safe enough to go some places, with mask, with happiness.
Grocery store? Yes! Len had created a grocery order for pick up, but then it got lost in the computer so I said I’d just go to the store. His list had totaled $100. I spent $150. I had not impulse shopped in a grocery store in so long it felt like Christmas.
We saw grandkids this past weekend and are going to visit the other set next week. Len and I made reservations for an Airbnb vacation in the spring.
A couple things to consider:
1. This website (Thanks, Rick) is easy to negotiate and helps one see covid infection rates exactly where you live. Covid Act Now
2. I bet another variant will come along in a few months so don’t stay inside waiting for it. Put on your super-duper mask and step out a little bit. I’m not recommending getting together in inside spaces, without masks, without everyone doing a negative home test first.

Okay, this is just cool. Len and I drove to Madison on Sunday. Remember Sunday? Here in SE Wisconsin, it was very cold and very bright. We left the house around 10, drove west on 94, and I am not kidding, we saw SEVENTEEN HAWKS! Most were alone, several were in pairs sitting in the same tree. I guess this is hawk mating season so we saw hawks looking for a date, or on dates.
Never have we seen so many hawks over that fifty mile stretch of road.
Sometimes being alive is amazing.

Are you seeing hawks, or peregrines, or sandhill cranes, or other awesome birds where you live?
