I spent five wonderful hours outside in my own backyard this morning. Dug more garden bed area, finished churning in the rest of the winter compost, covered much of the area that will be vegetable beds soon with watered-in cardboard. I dunno, I think it will make the earth warm and later I can rip the cardboard around the base of plants to help hold down the weeds. Seemed like a good idea. Can’t hurt.
I have a green thumb though not the kind green thumb where one grows and reaps exactly what one plans to grow and reap. I’m just pretty good at making a place where plants like to grow. I welcome them the best I can and try to keep them from choking each other. I plant what I want and then I sort of take on the role of Sherpa. I’ll bring stuff (water, fertilizer) to the plants and try to get the crowdy guys out of the way and we will see who makes it through the season in fine fettle - and who just makes it through the season with a good story. I’m open to both.
So anyway, five hours outside (yes, with sunscreen and a hat) washes the mind of strong feelings and precise words.
So today I am going to post some of Len’s osprey photos from this past week.
